Cobra
"Poison Dragon"[da] Cobra (コブラ Kobura?) is a second-generation Dragon Slayer. Having mastered the Poison Dragon Slayer magic (毒の滅竜魔法 Doku no Metsuryū mahō), Cobra can breathe clouds of toxic gas and turn his hands into venomous claws. He also has hyper-sensitive hearing that allows him to hear others' movements and read their thoughts.[ch. 149] He is accompanied by a pet snake Cubellios (キュベリオス Kyuberiosu?).[ch. 134] Formerly a slave at the Tower of Heaven, Cobra is one of five wizards assembled and raised by Brain to form the Oración Seis. He is captured by the Magic Council with the rest of his guild after being defeated by Natsu Dragneel. Seven years later, he is temporarily released from prison to aid his fellow Dragon Slayers in battling dragons assembled by the future version of Rogue Cheney. In the Japanese series, he is voiced by Atsushi Imaruoka. In the English dub, he is voiced by Jarrod Greene.




Deliora
Deliora (デリオラ Deriora?), the "Demon of Disaster"[db], is a massive demon created by Zeref who destroys Gray Fullbuster's hometown and is frozen by Ur years before the series' present.[ch. 27] Ten years later, he is thawed out by Lyon Vastia during the events of the series, only to die moments later after spending years in a frozen state.[ch. 43] Seven years later, Deliora is revived as a member of Tartaros, using Gray's father, "Absolute Zero"[dc] Silver Fullbuster (シルバー・フルバスター Shirubā Furubasutā?) as a disguise.[ch. 390] In his human form, he utilizes Ice Devil Slayer magic (氷の滅悪魔導士 Kōri no Metsuaku mahō?) capable of harming other demons via flash freezing and conjuring ice formations.[ch. 353]




Doranbalt
Doranbalt (ドランバルト Doranbaruto?) is a wizard and intelligence operative for the reformed Magic Council.[ch. 223] He uses a spell called Direct Line (瞬間移動(ダイレクトライン) Dairekuto Rain?) to instantaneously teleport himself from one location to another.[ch. 213] Under the alias Mest Gryder (メスト・グライダー Mesuto Guraidā?), he uses a memory alteration charm to disguise himself as a member of Fairy Tail and Mystogan's disciple.[ch. 202] He participates in the guild's S-Class wizard test on Sirius Island to search for negative information on the guild and dissolve it.[ch. 213] However, he becomes increasingly sympathetic for Fairy Tail after discovering Grimoire Heart and Zeref's presence on the island.[ch. 223] Doranbalt tries in vain to evacuate Fairy Tail off the island, out of concern that the council will fire Etherion on them.[ch. 228] In the Japanese series, he is voiced by Shūhei Sakaguchi. In the English dub, his name is spelled Doranbolt, and he is voiced by Alex Organ.




Flare Corona
Flare Corona (フレア・コロナ Furea Korona) is a red haired woman who can extend and change the shape of her prehensile hair.[ch. 271] Introduced as a member of Raven Tail during the Grand Magic Games, Flare develops a fondness to Lucy Heartfilia and stalks her while referring to her as blondie. After Raven Tail's dissolution, Flare continues to stalk Lucy in secrecy which later leads her back to her homeland the Sun Village (太陽の村 Taiyō no Mura). In the anime series her voice actress is Shizuka Itō.




Hades
Precht (プレヒト Purehito?), better known as Hades (ハデス Hadesu) is the founder and master of Grimoire Heart. Formerly the second guild master of Fairy Tail,[ch. 214] Hades embarks on a quest for knowledge to find the original source of magic power, which he traces back to Zeref.[ch. 215] He organizes Grimoire Heart for the purpose of reawakening Zeref's power, thinking he may find the source of magic in the "world of great magic" that Zeref will bring about.[ch. 249] He uses powerful spells from Zeref's book such as Grimoire Law (悪魔の法律(グリモアロウ) Gurimoa Rō), a dark version of Makarov Dreyar's spell,[ch. 214] and Nemesis (天罰(ネメシス) Nemeshisu) to transform rubble into living demons.[ch. 247] At first, it is implied that he is invincible when he nearly kills Makarov in battle on Sirius Island,[ch. 214] and is later unscathed by a joint attack from the main protagonists.[ch. 243] This is later revealed to be an effect from a mechanical "heart" stowed on board his guild's airship that sustains his life and strengthens his magic.[ch. 248] However, once Happy and Carla destroy the machine, Hades is easily defeated by the protagonists and allowed to leave the island, only to be mercilessly killed by Zeref.[ch. 248-250] In the original Japanese series, his voice actor is Masashi Hirose.[41] In the English dub, his voice is supplied by John Swasey.[27]




Igneel
Igneel (イグニール Igunīru?) is a dragon, the Flame Dragon King, and the adoptive father of Natsu Dragneel.[ch. 1,2] Having raised Natsu from infancy and taught him Dragon Slayer magic, Igneel disappears seven years before the events of the series on July 7 prompting Natsu on a journey to find him. Natsu uncovers clues about Igneel's disappearance over the course of the series, discovering that Gajeel Redfox and Wendy Marvell's dragons vanished on the same day. Igneel is periodically shown to watch Natsu from an undisclosed volcanic region, choosing not to interfere with human affairs. In the original Japanese series, Igneel is voiced by Hidekatsu Shibata. In the English dub, his voice is supplied by Bob Magruder.




Jellal Fernandez
Jellal Fernandez (ジェラール・フェルナンデス Jerāru Ferunandesu?) is a young man introduced under the alias Siegrain (ジークレイン Jīkurein?). He is based on Sieg Hart, a character from his earlier work Rave Master, as a form of fan service.[vol. 3:afterword] As one of the Ten Wizard Saints, he uses "Heavenly Body" magic (天体魔法 tentai mahō?) spells such as Meteor (ミーティア Mītia?)[dd] which allows him to fly and boost his speed to imperceptible levels; Grand Chariot (グランシャリオ Guran Shario),[de] an energy attack with the destructive power of a falling meteor; and Altairis (アルテアリス Arutearisu),[df] a deadly black orb that is recognized for causing light and shadows to stretch in opposite directions.[ch. 96,97]

Enslaved and forced to build the Tower of Heaven during his childhood, Jellal befriends a group of other child slaves, including Erza Scarlet. While being punished by his captors for attempting to rebel, Jellal is manipulated by a spirit of Zeref, who is in truth Ultear Milkovich,[ch. 102] into taking over the tower's construction. Jellal turns on Erza, as he and the other slaves continue building the tower for the next eight years.[ch. 77-83] He is appointed a member of the Magic Council where he poses as a twin brother named Siegrain to avoid suspicion from Erza and the council. He has the council fire Etherion at the tower to complete it. While fighting with Erza and Natsu Dragneel, Jellal kills his friend Simon when he launches an attack at them. Natsu uses the residual energy from Etherion to defeat Jellal and free him from his brainwashing. Jellal saves Natsu and Erza from the tower's destruction by fusing with it and redirecting its destructive power into the sky.[ch. 94-101]

Later in the series, he is found alive by Oración Seis and is resuscitated by Wendy Marvell to help Oración Seis find the destructive spell Nirvana.[ch. 136,137] However, he suffers from amnesia, and, after being convinced by Erza to atone for his misdeeds, allies with Fairy Tail to fight Oración Seis;[ch. 145,147] he enhances Natsu's strength to defeat Zero.[ch. 159] Jellal is soon arrested by the Magic Council.[ch. 162] During the disappearance of Sirius Island, Jellal is liberated by Ultear and Merudi. They soon found their own independent guild, Crime Sorcière (クリムソルシエール Kurimu Sorushiēru),[dg] whose agenda is to eradicate the dark guilds and any treachery that could arise from Zeref. With his memories fully restored, he reconciles with Erza and professes his love for her while continuing to atone for his misdeeds.[ch. 263,264] Jellal poses as Mystogan, his Edolas counterpart, to investigate a magical anomaly detected from Crocus's tournament arena.[ch. 268,263] He is eventually released by Doranbalt following Tartaros's destruction on the Magic Council. He later confronts the Oracion Seis on Doranbolt's request and challenges them to a fight. After defeating them, he asks them to join his guild Crime Sorciere, and declares that they should be fighting their common enemy Zeref. In the original Japanese series, Jellal is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa.[8] In the English dub, his voice is supplied by Robert McCollum.[9]




Jose Porla
Jose Porla (ジョゼ・ポーラ Joze Pōra?) is the founder and guild master of Phantom Lord and one of the Ten Wizard Saints. Using the element of darkness, Jose can summon ghost-like apparitions called Shades (シェイド Sheido)[dh] to drain the strength of anyone they come in contact with. A self-fashioned rival of Makarov Dreyar, Jose harbors resentment against Fairy Tail for its quick rise to prominence; he considers Phantom Lord to be superior.[ch. 65] Upon discovering Lucy Heartfilia's membership in Fairy Tail, Jose captures her on her father Jude's orders and organizes the assault on Fairy Tail.[ch. 47] Oblivious to Lucy running away from home years earlier, Jose attempts to hold her for ransom and plans to monopolize her fortune out of concern that the Heartfilia fortune may cause Fairy Tail to surpass his guild.[ch. 64] After his defeat at the hands of Makarov, Jose is stripped of his rank as a Wizard Saint.[ch. 65,69] In the original Japanese series, Jose is voiced by Takashi Matsuyama.[16] Ed Blaylock provides his voice in the English dub.[17]




Lyon Vastia
"Reitei"[di] Lyon Vastia (リオン・バスティア Rion Basutia?) is an Ice Make wizard and Gray Fullbuster's fellow pupil under Ur who shares Gray's habit of stripping down to his underwear. Lyon can create living golems from ice in the shape of animals, which can move and attack on their own. He uses a single hand to cast his magic faster, but it makes his conjured ice less structurally stable. When Ur transforms herself into ice to freeze Deliora and protect Gray, Lyon resents him for ruining his childhood ambition of surpassing Ur ever since. Years later, Lyon uses the ceremonial "Moon Drip" spell to melts the ice made from Ur's body to revive and kill Deliora. However, he discovers that the demon has already died while in his frozen state and, following Gray's advice, joins Lamia Scale.[ch. 132] Seven years later, Lyon falls in love with Juvia on sight, much to her confusion.[ch. 256,265] In the original Japanese series, Lyon is voiced by Yūki Kaji.[22] In the English dub, where he is called "Cold Emperor" Lyon Vastia, his voice is supplied by Jerry Jewell.[9]




Kagura Mikazuchi
Kagura Mikazuchi (カグラ・ミカズチ?) is a member of the Mermaid Heel and the younger sister of Simon.[ch. 267,314] Having mastered the Gravity Change (重力変化 Jūryoku Henka?) magic, she can raise her target's gravity.[ch. 280] Using her katana Archenemy (不倶戴天 Fugutaiten), Kagura can defeat a person with a single strike and, when unsheathed, can cause destruction.[ch. 280,315] Before joining Mermaid Heel, she lives with Simon and Erza until their capture in which Erza prevents Kagura from being enslaved herself. After learning of Simon's death, Kagura is determined to seek revenge against Jellal Fernandez as well as Millianna. Only after realizing that Erza has prevented her enslavement and discovering that Ultear Milkovich has killed Simon does she reconsiders.[ch. 314-315,334] In the anime series, her voice actress is Saori Hayami.




Meldy
Merudy (メルディ Merudi?) is a member of Grimoire Heart's Seven Kin of Purgatory, capable of using the Lost Magic Maguilty Sense (マギルティ=センス Maguriti-Sensu?) to synchronize the physical sensations of two or more people.[ch. 229] The spell can also affect the targets' emotions, and if one of their emotions are strong enough, that person becomes capable of reading the others' emotions for as long as the spell remains in effect.[ch. 230] She is also capable of using Maguilty Sodom (マギルティ=ソドム Magiruti-Sodomu?) to produce blades of light that directly affect her opponents' sense of pain.[ch. 225]

Ultear Milkovich takes care of Merudy after her hometown is destroyed, unaware that Ultear and Grimoire Heart are responsible for the town's destruction.[ch. 230,250] Merudy comes to love Ultear as with her mother,[ch. 230] joining Grimoire Heart as a Seven Kin member, and assisting Ultear during the mission to capture Zeref, whose magic combined with Ultear's Arc of Time restores her hometown.[ch. 242] She also participates in Grimoire Heart's attack on Sirius Island to kill the Fairy Tail members, especially Gray Fullbuster.[ch. 215,228] She duels with Juvia Lockser and turns it into a stalemate by threatening suicide; however, Juvia convinces her to live for the one she loves.[ch. 229,230] Merudy eventually learns the truth of her hometown's destruction from Zancrow. Merudy rescues Ultear from committing suicide and, wanting to find happiness, leaves Grimoire Heart.[ch. 242,250] During the Fairy Tail members' seven-year disappearance on Sirius Island, Merudy, Ultear, and Jellal Fernandez found Crime Sorcière.[ch. 263] In the anime series, her voice actress is Saori Gotō.[40] In the English dub, her name is spelled Meldy and she is voiced by Bryn Apprill.




Minerva Orlando
Minerva Orlando (ミネルバ・オーランド Mineruba Ōrando) is the ruthless and sadistic daughter of Sabertooth's guild master Ziemma with the power of Territory (テリトリー Teritorī)) which allows her to manipulate the space around an object and teleport any object or person in the space. After being defeated by Erza Scarlet in the Grand Magic Games, she leaves Sabertooth and joins the dark guild Succubus Eye. After her guild is obliterated, she becomes a member of Tartaros as Neo Minerva.[ch. 359] In the anime series her voice actress is Kikuko Inoue.




Rogue Cheney
"Shadow Dragon"[dj] Rogue Cheney (ローグ・チェーニ Rōgu Chēni?) is a member of Saber Tooth, a male Dragon Slayer, and one of the Twin Dragons alongside Sting Eucliffe.[ch. 258] He is a third-generation Dragon Slayer, taught by the dragon Skiadrum and using Dragon Slayer lacrima implants to perform Shadow Dragon Slayer magic (影の滅竜魔法 Ei no Metsuryū mahō?) techniques such as shrouding himself in a black cloud and turning himself into a shadow.[ch. 294] He is accompanied by Frosch (フロッシュ Furosshu?), a green Exceed who wears a pink frog costume.[ch. 258] Calling himself Ryos (ライオス Raiosu?) in his childhood, Rogue is an admirer of Gajeel Redfox during the latter's membership in Phantom Lord, and becomes intent to fight him when Gajeel joins Fairy Tail.[ch. 317] Satisfied after his loss in the Grand Magic Games, Rogue strives to improve Saber Tooth's image, recognizing the lack of camaraderie in his guild.

During the tournament, a version of Rogue hailing from an alternate future appears through the Eclipse Gate, possessed by his inner evil after Frosch's death in his timeline. "Future" Rogue combines his shadow magic with White Dragon Slayer magic forcibly acquired from Sting after killing him in the future.[ch. 325] By tricking Hisui E. Fiore into thinking that they may use the Eclipse as a weapon to save the kingdom from a dragon invasion,[ch. 323] he sets the Eclipse Gate to allow seven dragons from a quadricentennial war to appear in the present, which he then brainwashes to use against Acnologia. While Rogue's present self helps fight the dragons, "Future" Rogue's battle with Natsu Dragneel ends with the Eclipse being destroyed and returning Rogue and the dragons to their original time periods. In the anime adaptation, Rogue's voice actor is Kenichi Suzumura.




Poluchka
Poluchka (ポーリュシカ Pōryushika?, also "Porlyusica") is an elderly hermit and medicinal advisor of Fairy Tail, able to remedy all sorts of ailments and injuries.[ch. 51,65] She humorously loathes of humans and chases visitors out of her house unless they are in need of her aid.[ch. 51] She is also a longtime friend of Makarov Dreyar, whom she nurses to health when he is drained of his magic, and later when he falls ill during Laxus Dreyar's mutiny. When Poluchka meets Wendy Marvell, who mistakes her for the dragon Grandine,[ch. 259] she reveals herself as the dragon's human counterpart from Edolas who gets trapped in Earth-land years before the series' present.[ch. 260] In the original Japanese series, her voice actress is Shōko Tsuda.[16] In the English dub, her name is spelled Porlyusica, and she is voiced by Linda Young.[17]




Simon
Simon (シモン Shimon?) is one of Erza Scarlet and Jellal Fernandez's friends and fellow slaves during their childhood in the Tower of Heaven,[ch. 76] as well as the older brother of Kagura Mikazuchi.[ch. 314] He is a large man who wears an eyepatch and a metal plate around his lower jaw, which is disfigured during a revolt attempt when he is a child.[ch. 81] He learns to use telepathic powers and a spell called Dark Moment (闇刹那 Yami Setsuna?) to cover surrounding areas in darkness.[ch. 76] Unlike Erza's other friends, who are convinced by Jellal that Erza attempted to kill them to save herself from the tower, Simon notices he is lying and remains faithful to Erza,[ch. 82] whom he harbors romantic feelings for.[ch. 81] Feigning loyalty to Jellal, he lures the protagonists to the Tower of Heaven to stop Jellal.[ch. 82] Eventually, during Natsu Dragneel's battle with Jellal, Simon shields Natsu and Erza from Jellal's Altairis attack at the cost of his own life.[ch. 97] In the original Japanese series, Simon is voiced by Yasuyuki Kase. In the English dub, his voice is supplied by J. Michael Tatum.[36]




Sting Eucliffe
"White Dragon"[dk] Sting Eucliffe (スティング・ユークリフ Sutingu Yūkurifu?) is a Dragon Slayer and a member Saber Tooth, and one of the Twin Dragons alongside Rogue Cheney.[ch. 258] Sting is a third-generation Dragon Slayer raised by the dragon Weisslogia who has Dragon Slayer lacrima implants.[ch. 265] He performs White Dragon Slayer magic (白の滅竜魔法 Haku no Metsuryū mahō?) to produce beams of sacred light from his mouth and arms.[ch. 295] As a child, Sting kills Weisslogia at the dragon's behest to prove himself a "true" Dragon Slayer.[ch. 265] He promises his Exceed friend Lector (レクター Rekutā?) to defeat Natsu Dragneel and prove to others that he killed a dragon.[ch. 295] Representing his guild in the Grand Magic Games, he antagonizes Natsu in the hopes of provoking his true strength.[ch. 265] During their two-on-two fight alongside Rogue and Gajeel Redfox, Sting is single-handedly defeated by Natsu,[ch. 296] and gains new respect for Fairy Tail.[ch. 322] He later fights alongside his fellow Dragon Slayers against a set of dragons summoned by the future version of Rogue. Following the Grand Magic Games, Sting becomes Saber Tooth's new master. In the anime adaptation, his voice actor is Takahiro Sakurai.




Ultear Milkovich
Ultear Milkovich (ウルティア・ミルコビッチ Urutia Mirukobitchi?, also "Urtear Milkovich") is Ur's daughter[ch. 46] and the leader of Grimoire Heart's Seven Kin of Purgatory. Having mastered the Lost Magic Arc of Time (時間のアーク Toki no Āku?), she can control an object's state in time and maneuver her crystal ball.[ch. 40] She additionally performs Ice Make magic.[ch. 240] During her early childhood, she is brought to a research facility by Ur to save her life, only to be subjected to the doctors' experiments. Ur is tricked into thinking that Ultear has died, and Ultear, oblivious to this realization, mistakenly thinks that she has been abandoned upon discovering Gray Fullbuster and Lyon Vastia with Ur. Ultear joins Grimoire Heart to modify her magic with Zeref's power to travel to the past and kill Ur.[ch. 240,241]

Disguised as Zeref's spirit, Ultear manipulates Jellal Fernandez into becoming the dark wizard's servant.[ch. 102] She is appointed a member of the Magic Council and attempts to acquire the demon Deliora for Jellal by posing as Lyon's minion Zalty (ザルティ Zaruti?) and helping him melt the ice made from Ur's body that freezes the demon.[ch. 42,46] Ultear destroys the council building after Jellal tricks the council into firing Etherion at the Tower of Heaven.[ch. 95] Ultear later discovers and captures Zeref on Sirius Island, and then attempts to flee with Zeref and her guildmate Merudy.[ch. 222,239] Upon discovering the truth of her abandonment during her duel with Gray,[ch. 241] Ultear helps Fairy Tail defeat Hades,[ch. 248] and leaves Grimoire Heart with Merudy.[ch. 250]

During the disappearance of Sirius Island, Ultear liberates Jellal from prison and founds Crime Sorcière; she also uses her magic to unlock Fairy Tail's dormant magic power in exchange for their help in determining the source of a magical power later revealed to be the Eclipse Gate.[ch. 263] When the future version of Rogue Cheney uses the Eclipse to bring dragons to the present, Ultear contemplates killing the present Rogue to prevent his future self from existing. She soon becomes horrified with herself for having such thoughts and, in penance, casts the Arc of Time spell Last Ages (ラストエイジス Rasuto Eijisu?) that reverses time by one minute, which allows the battling wizards to predict the dragons' next moves within that minute, but also rapidly ages Ultear's body to that of an old woman. In the original Japanese series, she is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.[22] In the English dub, her voice is supplied by Lydia Mackay.[9]




Ur
Ur (ウル Uru?, Ul) is the mother of Ultear Milkovich and the adoptive mother of Lyon Vastia and Gray Fullbuster.[ch. 36,46] A master of Ice-Make magic, Ur teaches Lyon and Gray how to perform this magic. Years before the events of the series, Ur brings Ultear to a research facility to save her when she falls gravely ill from her immense magical power. However, while they keep Ultear alive to experiment on her, the doctors trick Ur into thinking that her daughter has died. Ur takes in Lyon and Gray as her students, eventually coming to love them as her own children without viewing them as replacements for Ultear. After Ur freezes the demon Deliora, she is kept alive in the form of a large chunk of ice along with the demon. Years later, Lyon uses the Moon Drip spell to melt her. Even after drifting out to sea as water, Ur remains alive to watch over her students. She is voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.[22] In the English dub, her voice is supplied by Kira Vincent-Davis.[9]




Yukino Aguria
Yukino Aguria (ユキノ・アグリア?) is a celestial wizard who can summon spirits from a set of magical Gatekeys as with Lucy Heartfilia.[ch. 282] After losing her older sister Sorano as a child, Yukino decides to stop Zeref at all costs.[ch. 303] Initially a member of Saber Tooth, she participates in the Grand Magic Games as Minerva's substitute. After being expelled for losing to Kagura Mikazuchi,[ch. 281] she joins the Cherry Blossom Holy Knight Squadron with the rank of sergeant.[ch. 290] She is voiced by Fuyuka Ōura.




Zeref
The "Black Wizard"[dl] Zeref (ゼレフ Zerefu?) is one of the primary antagonists of Fairy Tail. He is described as the most evil wizard in history, having created numerous demons before his defeat 400 years before the series's present.[ch. 21] He is worshiped by cultists who build the Tower of Heaven to revive him from his assumed demise,[ch. 82] while the members of Grimoire Heart think that he is in a "sleeping" state in which he cannot use the full extent of his power, and seek to awaken him.[ch. 102] Zeref's first actual appearance in the story is on Sirius Island as an unaging young man whose magic causes everything around him to die instantly.[ch. 200] His strength varies between two different personalities: a benevolent one that cherishes life but is unable to control his magic; and a malevolent one that disregards life and can use his magic at will and to its fullest extent.[ch. 250] Because he is capable of cherishing life, Zeref is self-loathing and wishes to be killed by Natsu.[ch. 209] After witnessing the battle between Fairy Tail and Grimoire Heart on Sirius Island, Zeref punishes Grimoire Heart's master Hades by killing him.[ch. 250] Seven years later, after contemplating how to react to the world's continuing conflicts, Zeref concludes he must wipe out all of humanity. In the original Japanese series, his voice actor is Akira Ishida.[29] In the English dub, his voice is supplied by Joel McDonald.
